Our Story
More than 40 Years of Faithful Service
Hope for the Hungry began in 1982 as a response to Christ’s command to “Feed My Sheep.” At the time, more than 40,000 children were dying every day in the world from malnutrition and preventable diseases.

After a life-changing mission trip to Haiti, our founders, Dan and Kandy Kirkley, felt called to do something tangible. With just $200 a month, they began supporting a small children’s home in Guibert, Haiti—providing care and shelter for eight children.
Over four decades of ministry later, our organization continues to support the children's home in Guibert. We’ve also expanded our services locally and around the globe in an effort to relieve spiritual and physical needs. Our passion and our goal is to "Share the Bread of Life with a Starving World."
