Learning. Growing. Sharing.

The hours between when the final school bell rings and when parents return from work—typically 3 to 6 PM—are a critical window for disadvantaged youth. Often, these students are at their most unsupervised and vulnerable during this time, and have an increased risk of negative influences and missed opportunities for growth.

For over 40 years, Belton Hope House has worked to bridge that gap by providing snacks, games, and homework help. We offer a safe space for students and their families to feel seen and supported. Above all, we make it possible for individuals to experience God’s love for themselves.

Who We Are

As an after-school initiative of Hope for the Hungry, our vision is to “Share the Bread of Life with a Starving World.” We do this by meeting the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of children and families in Belton. Our work empowers people to rise above poverty, build stronger communities, and draw closer to Christ.

Our goals are to help children and families LEARN of God’s love, GROW in their love for Him, and SHARE His love with others. Together with our volunteers, we pray that every child and family who walks through our doors will feel God’s loving kindness.

What We Do

Belton Hope House provides a place to gather, play games, eat snacks, and learn about God. Our team and volunteers share the gospel with local children and families in need–not just with our words, but with our actions as well.

Additionally, we host special events that allow us to get to know our families and volunteers. From monthly family dinners to field trips, movie nights, and more, our team is constantly working to strengthen our network and meet the needs of families in our community.

Who We Serve

In the Southwest Elementary School district, 87% of students face economic hardship, and 66.8% are considered at high risk of dropping out. Our team and volunteers provide a safe, supportive environment during critical after-school hours.

Many of our students lack supervision and emotional support during this time, increasing the risk of academic struggles and emotional challenges. Through mentoring, educational support, and Christ-centered guidance, our ministry provides the stability and encouragement these children need.

All staff and volunteers are required to complete training and successfully pass a background check.
